Job Description

 

General Purpose

The Health Equity & Inclusion (HEI) Program Coordinator plays a critical role in the innovation, implementation and oversight of programs and systems within the UM Health-Sparrow Office of Health Equity & Inclusion (OHEI) that advance Health Equity & Inclusion at UMH-Sparrow. The HEI Program Coordinator will develop, coordinate, market, and implement HEI learning, engagement and professional development programs, products and services aimed at creating inclusive work and care environments. The HEI Program Coordinator has operational and logistical oversight of UM Health-Sparrow Caregiver Resource Groups (CRGs). This position coordinates the tracking, measuring and evaluation of HEI programs and services to ensure they meet targeted outcomes. The HEI Coordinator will prioritize relationship-building with UM Health-Sparrow leaders and workforce members, utilizing a strengths-based relational approach to advance HEI strategic priorities, creating and maintain spaces of inclusion and belonging for UM Health-Sparrow employees, patients and guests.

Essential Duties

 

Actively contributes to the development of the OHEI's annual strategic plan, goals, objective and budget.

Collaborates with leadership, staff and other stakeholders to understand HEI needs, and provide consultation on HEI matters, including, but not limited to the planning and implementation of events, programs and other initiatives that advance understanding of HEI principles and concepts for employees and community members.

Serves as a trusted resource and advocate by growing and supporting positive relationships with key UMH-Sparrow partners and in diverse communities, and by incorporating HEI into new and existing programs. 

Represents OHEI on internal and external teams, projects and groups, fostering relationships and collaborations, as assigned and requested.

Manages programming and assigned HEI projects costs, including research for internal or external funding as applicable, and ensuring costs are allocated to appropriate line items and in adherence with budget parameters.

Supports the reporting, tracking and analysis of metrics for HEI programs, including activities and outcomes.

In collaboration with UM Health-Sparrow Marketing and Communications, coordinates communication and marketing plans for HEI programming through internal postings, material preparation, presentations, and other collateral material.

Supports pipeline-building initiatives for increasing healthcare workforce diversity, including assisting in developing and planning activities and programs to increase the hiring of individuals from underrepresented groups.

Assists with the oversight and education of HEI department student interns, and volunteers. This includes overseeing their daily duties, ensuring departmental procedures followed and performance management including any necessary coaching.

Ensures the success and productivity of UM Health-Sparrow Caregiver Resource Groups (CRGs) by collaborating with, offering logistical support and investing the professional development of CRG leaders and Executive Sponsors.

Establish yearly goals and objectives for the success and continued expansion of UM Health-Sparrow CRGs.
