About The Role:

As a CBRE Lead Real Estate Accountant, you will review and create real estate accounting transactions and the production of the various resulting financial reports and statements.

What You'll Do:

  • Reviews assigned work product, including financial statements, to ensure accurate delivery to customers.

  • Adheres to Client Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP) to ensure reporting requirements are consistently met.

  • Reviews and prepares complex property budgets and forecasting for assigned property portfolios. Participates in new property and client transitions, and client audit requests.

  • Requests additional services from clients and the field to senior management and understands the scope of accounting services for the properties in portfolio.

  • Prepares financial statement packages, including preparing and posting journal entries, ensuring cash receipts and expense payables are recorded for the period, preparing and submitting funding requests and owner's distributions, and other transactions as applicable in order to ensure that all information delivered to the client is complete and encompasses all transactions for the applicable reporting period.

  • Assigns the completion of projects including independent preparation and review of CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, purchase/sale prorations, lease abstract analysis, property software setups, opening/closing entry generations, and maintenance of Policy & Procedure manuals.

  • Responds to raised issues and requests from Account Management Team, Real Estate Management Team, and Clients, including answering questions from other departments, locations and divisions regarding various accounting discrepancies, including profit and loss reports.

  • Researches open accounting issues and recognizes potential issues and/or conflicts so corrective action can intercept and minimize issues.

  • Partners with the field and Account Management teams to ensure requirements and terms of the client's Management Agreement are adhered to based upon solid understanding of these agreements.

  • Assists and provides training and mentorship to team members on financial reporting functions and duties.

  • No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical mentorship, and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

What You'll Need:

  • Degree from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required. In lieu of a Bachelors degree, an associate degree plus 2 years related work experience, or a high school diploma plus 4 years experience.

  • Requires sophisticated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including an advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods (cash, accrual, and full GAAP). Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret sophisticated documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Decisions made with detailed understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and goals. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project timelines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
